10th Romsey (Woodley and Crampmoor) Scout Group are holding an Anniversary Reception to help celebrate 50 years of continuous scouting at 10th Romsey. The event is being held on Saturday 20th June, from 3pm at the 10th Romsey Scout Group Headquarters, Braishfield Road, Romsey.
It will be an opportunity for past and present members and friends of the group to meet, share scouting memories and find out more about the current activities of the group which is one of the most successful in Hampshire.
10th Romsey Scout Group was re-formed in 1959 having originally been founded as ‘Woodley & Highwood’ in 1926. ‘Woodley & Highwood’ closed during the Second World War and re-opened as ‘Woodley & Braishfield’ in the early 1950’s but unfortunately closed again in 1954. Since re-opening in 1959 with a single Cub Pack of a dozen members, 10th Romsey has gone from strength to strength. This highly successful group now runs; 2 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs & 2 Scout Troops and also hosts one of the Romsey District Explorer Scout Units. The group currently has a membership of over 180 and is the second largest Scout group in Hampshire.
This event promises to be a memorable occasion and we would like as many past and present members and friends of the group to attend as possible. If you know of anyone who has been connected with the group at some point, please pass on the details of this event, we’d be delighted to see them on the 20th June.
