My child wants to join, and I want my child to join Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts?
It is great to hear that you are interested in joining us. Visit our Get Involved page to submit your details so you can express your interest and add yourself to our waiting list.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email membership@10thromseyscouts.org.uk.
Where can I buy a Uniform for my child?
You can purchase uniforms from the Scout Shop, and you can also purchase uniforms from OASIS Romsey. You can also take the 2nd handed uniform available within our committee room. Please ask our leaders for more details.
What about if I am struggling to pay for Subs, Camps and Sleepovers?
Scouting is so accessible. Please speak to your leader; they are more than happy to speak with you about available support.
Why is there a waiting list?
Becoming a Scout is a very popular activity for young people, and the enjoyment of everyone in our sections has a maximum number that they can accept. Within the Romsey District, there will be other groups with space, so please contact us for more details.
Can my child try Scouts first before joining?
Yes, your son or daughter will be able to come along initially for a couple of weeks to try out Scouts. After this, your Section Leader will give you information about subs, buying uniforms and details of when they will be invested into the group.
I’d like to get involved. How can I help?
That’s great, and as our groups are run by volunteers, we welcome help from many of our parents. All our volunteering is flexible and varied to suit the needs of our different volunteers. For example, you can go to a meeting to share the skills you have, go on trips and camps, and help out with meetings. There are also roles behind the scenes. To find out more, please visit our volunteering page
Will my child be insured when on Scout activities?
Yes. All Members are covered under our Personal Accident and Medical Expenses Policy.
How much does it cost to send my child to Scouts?
We asked parents to pay subs once a term, but the amount for subs can vary. Trips, camps and activities are usually charged separately. Cost should not be a barrier to anyone taking part in Scouting, and if this is an issue, you can speak to the section Leader in confidence.
Is there a planned programme of activities for Scouts?
Yes. Behind the fun of Scouting, there is an educational programme. The main programme areas are Outdoor and Adventure, Global, Community, Fit for Life, Creative, and Beliefs and Attitudes. Group leaders are trained to deliver this programme. There are lots of badges and awards that can be earned in scouting.
Where do badges go?
Please visit the section’s pages of our website to see a simple diagram of where badges are placed on our scouting uniform. You can find links to our badge finders to find out the requirements to earn badges within your section.
Can we hire the 10th Romsey Scout Group Hall?
Yes, we do allow people to use the hall and grounds. Please visit our Hall Hire page to find out more information.
