Group History

The 10th Romsey Scout Group is a testament to resilience, having been re-formed in 1959. Initially founded in 1926 as ‘Woodley & Highwood,’ the group faced closures during the Second World War and again in 1954. However, it overcame these challenges, re-opening as ‘Woodley & Braishfield’ in 1951 before finally becoming ‘Woodley & Crampmoor’ in 1959.

Since its re-opening in 1959 with a single Cub Pack of twelve members, the 10th Romsey Group has grown significantly. This highly successful group now operates 1 Squirrel Drey, two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs, and two Scout Troops, in addition to hosting one of the Romsey District Explorer Scout Units. The group currently boasts a membership of over 180, making it one of the largest Scout groups in Hampshire.
