Imagine, just for a moment, that Hogwarts held a special selection weekend exclusively for Muggle children aged eight to ten. That is exactly what happened when forty excited youngsters were invited to step into the wizarding world for a truly enchanting adventure.
The weekend began in Diagon Alley, where Hagrid greeted the Muggles. Under his watchful eye, each child collected a wand, a schoolbook, and a bag. Our new students had everything they needed for their new Hogwarts adventure. From there, they travelled to the castle for an opening assembly with Professor Dumbledore, Mad-Eye Moody and a panel of esteemed Hogwarts professors and distinguished guests. A hush fell over the hall as the Sorting Hat was placed on each child’s head, sorting them into houses for the weekend. Professor McCatspurple then proudly presented each student with a scarf in their house colours.
The following morning began with a feast of Chocolate Butterspell Buns, Pixie Puffs, and Sun-Squeezed Elixir. Energised and excited, the children set off to sample eight magical subjects, including Potions, Herbology, Ancient Runes, Transfiguration, Care of Magical Creatures, and Charms. A highlight of the day was an extraordinary flying and Quidditch lesson taught by Harry Potter himself, with support from Quidditch world champion Viktor Krum. A mini-tournament followed, with every child enjoying their first taste of broomstick sport. Ravenclaw soared to victory.
Dinner in the Great Hall featured Charmed Chicken Sizzlers and Wand-Roasted Spuddy Wedges, finished with a delightful Frogwarts Treat. Afterwards, everyone gathered around a campfire lit by Hermione using the Incendio spell. Tired after a full day of spells, flying, and magical mischief, the young visitors drifted off to sleep.
On the final day, the Muggles faced the Philosopher’s Stone Challenge — a fast-paced series of five-minute tasks. Completing each challenge earned house teams puzzle pieces needed for the final Mirror of Erised activity. Luna Lovegood supervised the Dragons’ Egg and Potions Logic challenges, while Professor Quirrell took charge of timekeeping.
Throughout the weekend, professors and former students awarded house points for teamwork, problem-solving, and impressive performance.
All the children passed the weekend’s tests, demonstrating that they had the potential to become excellent Hogwarts students. But after triumphing in both the Quidditch tournament and the Philosopher’s Stone Challenge, Ravenclaw claimed the most house points and was crowned champions. Sadly, He Who Must Not Be Named dispatched a minion in the night to steal the prizes, which means the awards will be presented to the victorious Ravenclaw Muggles once a team of wizards manages to recover them.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to the two hardworking House-Elves who spent the weekend preparing meals and washing up in the Leaky Cauldron. And yes — they were given a very special gift at the end. Any guesses what it might have been?
