On Wednesday 2nd January a group of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the 10th Romsey Scout Group visited Nightingale Lodge to entertain the residents with a medley of songs. The boys had learned old-time numbers such as ‘Daisy, Daisy’ and ‘Pack Up Your Troubles’ and included traditional campfire songs such as ‘One Man Went To Mow’ and ‘She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain’ in the programme. An invitation to the residents to join in if they knew the words had everyone singing right from the start. We can safely say ‘a good time was had by all’ and we hope to repeat the visit later in the year. After the boys had had refreshments a photo was taken as a memento of the occasion.
The link with Nightingale Lodge began last Easter when a group of Beavers went along to make Easter cards with the residents. During the summer Scouts and Leaders visited to paint garden furniture and do some gardening, and before Christmas Cubs made Christmas decorations with the residents and presented gifts of sweets.
